661 Wrist Wrap Pro Price: $22.00 $20 on Amazon
When riding at an indoor track years ago I made a mistake, came up short on a jump and injured my wrist. It didn’t hurt terribly bad and I never got it checked out. In fact I raced a whole snocross season using a wrist brace I bought and modified.
A few years after this I crashed off a jump practicing and broke my hand. When the doctor brought out the x-ray he asked how long it had been since I had broken my wrist. I told him that I never had. Once he told me I definitely had, probably around three years prior I knew the exact incident when it happened. Over the years I have jammed it from time to time causing pain that usually lasts about a week.
Fast forward to today. I am more out of shape than I have ever been and haven’t been riding as much as I would like. Whether that is the cause or aging I don’t know, but it seems I have been jamming the wrist more than usual. I started looking around for something to help. There are some high tech, expensive wrist braces available, but I decided to save some money and try this one.
I’m very surprised by how well this product works. When you put it on you feel like it is uncomfortable and it will hinder your movement. Since I’m using it on my right wrist it was really important it didn’t do this. I’ll tell ya what, as long as you get the straps adjusted correctly you won’t even notice it when you’re riding. Careful adjustment and placement is important for fit and effectiveness. The other thing it does better than I expected is support the wrist. You can really feel how it supports the wrist before you even get on the track. 661 claims the brace will fit under your glove, I don’t really understand how it would. This doesn’t mater though, there is nothing that goes over the palm, so you don’ have to worry about it effecting grip. Since starting to use this product I have had no issues with my wrist.
- Barely noticeable when riding
- Doesn’t hinder ability to twist throttle
