There is no denying that I was impressed when I opened the box. The FMF Factory 4.1 RCT Slip-on is a beautiful looking part, with its anodized blue titanium can and carbon end cap all pulled together with FMF’s graphics it is almost a work of art. It appears to be built very well, but that didn’t take away all my concerns about the durability of the thin titanium can and the carbon fiber end cap.
Especially on this particular bike, install is simple. On the KTM the muffler has no mid pipe attached. Installing the FMF Factory 4.1 RCT Slip-On is as simple as removing the two bolts that attach the stock muffler to the sub frame, removing the stock muffler, replacing with your new FMF Slip-on and bolting into place. Literally takes only a couple minutes to complete.
On the Track
In stock form the 2014 KTM 450 SX-F has an abrupt hit off the bottom followed by a mellow midrange that pulls long into the top end. The FMF Factory 4.1 RCT Slip-on mellowed out this abrupt hit and helped the bike pull stronger through the midrange.
After 15 hours of use and multiple falls on the right side of my bike, the FMF Factory 4.1 RCT Slip-on has had no issues. Honestly, it has held up better than I expected with all factors considered.
FMF Factory 4.1 RCT SL Final Thoughts
The FMF Factory 4.1 RCT Slip-On offers surprising performance for a slip-on. With models ranging from $349.99-$499.99 this is a great option for someone looking to improve their bike’s performance without spending the money on a full exhaust system, plus it looks cool.
