Turns out, there are a lot of resources out there that are helpful for beginner motocross riders. Here we have a video by the King of Supercross himself, Jeremy McGrath. A lot of basics are covered, helping to shorten your learning curve and avoiding typical mistakes people deal with when getting started in motocross. This is a must watch video for beginner motocross riders.
Topics include things that beginner motocross riders need to know like the importance of track etiquette. It also covers habits that many advanced riders struggle with such as riding on the balls of your feet and properly gripping with your legs.
Alright, I’ll admit, the video is a little old (and a little cheesy), but you have to admit that there are some great tips in there for beginner motocross riders. Shoot the practice tips and some of the techniques will definitely help higher level riders too. It’s always good to go back over the fundamentals of motocross regardless of how good of a rider you are.
Beginner riders – take all of the tips, techniques and drills in this video to heart and really work on perfecting them. The better you are at everything McGrath covers in the video, the faster and safer you will be around the MX track.
Intermediate riders and above – Do you include targeted drills in your day to day riding? What techniques do you struggle with? Work more drills into your practice routine and focus on parts of your riding that you know need work.
